The 3rd Huniño songwriting competition has been moved to April to coincide with the 444th anniversary of the founding of the Sto. Niño.
The 3rd Huniño: Huni Halad Alang Kang Señor Sto. Niño de Cebu will go on stage at the Basilica del Santo Niño Pilgrim Center on April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Twelve compositions chosen from over a hundred entries submitted for screening in October last year will be presented for the grand finals.
The 12 compositions were arranged by Nendel Endrina. The Huniño String Orchestra will accompany all the contending entries under the baton of Prof. Roberto del Rosario.
The 12 entries are already assured of P5,000 each as a finalists prize.
The best Huniño composition will receive P50,000 cash, while the first runner-up will get P30,000 and second runner-up, P20,000.
A special prize of P10,000 will be awarded to the best interpreter.
Singer Jed Madela will grace the occasion as special guest, said Rev. Fr. Raymundo T. Alcayaga, OSA, 3rd Huniño project director.
The activity is for the benefit of the Basilica del Sto. Niño Children's Welfare Foundation.
